He enlisted in the Army on December 18, 1943 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted as being employed in the building of aircraft and also as Single, with dependents.

Robert died in the "Line Of Duty" of a non-battle related incident during the war. He had previously been awarded a Purple Heart.
