Sergeant, 747th Bomber Squadron, 456th Bomber Group, Heavy; U.S. Army Air Forces. Son of Jack Best and Mary Lucille (Baker) Best. Entered the service from Kentucky. Awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. His plane was shot down on 10 May 1944 and he died of burns in a German POW camp.
