George died whilst serving in the 7th Bn., Leicestershire Regiment ~ Service No:41605. He had formerly served with the Northamptonshire Regiment under Service No: 50705. He enlisted at Warley whilst resident at Orsett Heath, just north of Chadwell St Mary, Thurrock. He is commemorated as C. L. Turner on the Chadwell St Mary war memorial.

He was the son of John and Jane Turner.
