Technical Sergeant Stanley Donald Gue, born 4 Apr 1921, was the son of Stanley M. and Jessie B. (Clark) Gue of San Diego, California.
In the 1930 census 9-year-old Stanley is living with his parents and siblings Ruth 16, Leslie 11, and Galen 7, at 3970 Arizona street in San Diego. His father is the deputy commissioner for the California State Labor Commission. In the 1940 census 19-year-old Stanley is living with his two brothers in the rear apartment at 1645 Morena Boulevard. Their parents live in the front of 1645 Morena. Leslie and Stanley both work at Consolidated Aircraft. Leslie is a riveter and Stanley is a storekeeper. Their father is still deputy commissioner for the state division of labor statistics and law enforcement. Stanley registered for the draft on 15 Feb 1942. He was 5'7" and weighed 145lbs with brown eyes and brown hair. He was employed by the Consolidated Aircraft Corporation. He was ultimately assigned to the 549th Bomb Squadron of the 385th Bomb Group. The 385th BG was based out of RAF Great Ashfield in Suffolk, 80 miles northeast of London. Sgt Gue was the top turret gunner on B-17 44-6159 "West Virginian", piloted by 1st Lt Raymond C Noiseau. The NARA WWII casualty listings by state and county show Gue, Stanley D, T Sgt. from Los Angeles County, California as killed in action. Sgt. Gue's plane was shot down by fighter cover over Berlin and crashed at Brandenburg on 6 Oct 1944. Missing Air Crew Report 9515. Brandenburg is 53 miles west southwest of central Berlin.
