He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 6, 1942 in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Electrician and also as Single, without dependents.

Thomas was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while returning from a mission, crashed on a hillside near M. Deir Corvi, Italy during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
