Carl served as a Sergeant in the 236th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Company, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided at 81 Pert Avenue, Irondequoit, Monroe County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on May 22, 1942 in Rochester, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Driver and also as being Married.

Carl was killed in the "Line Of Duty", along with 1LT Frank E. Smith, Jr. and PFC J. Gatti, while rendering safe ordnance near Naples, Italy during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
