The date of July 10, 1943 shown on the American Battle Monuments Commission website is incorrect according to MACR #204.

Richard served as a Staff Sergeant & Tail Gunner on B-17 "Miss Carriage" #42-3083, 429th Bomber Squadron, 2nd Bomber Group, Heavy, during World War II.

He resided in Worcester County, Massachusetts prior to the war.

Richard was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was shot down by enemy aircraft and crashed in the Mediterranean during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart.
