Lieutenant Dasso served with the 337th Bomber Squadron, 96th Bomber Group, Heavy. He was a pilot of a B-17 Bomber (Flying Fortress).
He and his crew were on their 14th mission over Germany when they were hit by anti-aircraft fire. Eugene was killed on January 28, 1945, while trying to land his damaged plane and thereby saving the entire crew.
He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands, Plot O Row 9 Grave 2, next to his brother Carl Henry Dasso. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
