Sergeant Bert W Servo, born 18 Aug 1925, was the son of John Frank Servo and Susanne (Osterman) Servo of Mount Vernon, Westchester County, New York. Mount Vernon is between Yonkers and New Rochelle, 12 mi NNE of Manhattan. His parents were both born in Romania.

In the 1937 Mount Vernon city directory Bert's parents are listed at 23 Courtland Street, Apt 8. His father is a carpenter.

In the 1940 census 14-year-old Bert is living with his parents and brothers John Jr 18, and Robert 16, still at 23 Courtland Street in Mount Vernon. His father is still a carpenter.
In the 1945 Florida state census 19-year-old Bert and both brothers are listed in the US Army with their parents address at 620 ½ 15th Street North, in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida.

Bert was Radioman on B-17 #43-38402 piloted by Second Lt Hugh H McCutchan Jr, out of RAF Mendlesham, 16 mi N of Ipswich and 83 mi NE of London.

The NARA WWII casualty listings by state and county for New York show Servo, Bert W, Sgt from Westchester County as killed in action 26 Mar 1945. Bert's plane collided in midair, during assembly 9 miles ESE of Mendlesham, with B-17 #43-38876 from the 452nd Bomb Group and crashed just east of Framsden, 11 mi NNE of Ipswich, and 84 mi NE of London. No survivors from either plane.
