His mother was Beulah Smith, sister Cora Rogers and brothers Clifford and Leslie of Malin, Oregon


Ehle served as a First Lieutenant and Pilot on B-17 "Jerry Jinx" (#41-24607), 427th Bomber Squadron, 303rd Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Klamath County, Oregon prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on July 14, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Ord, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Actor and also as Single, without dependents.

Ehle was declared "Missing In Action", along with the entire crew, while on mission to Lorient, France when they had to ditch their plane in the Bay of Biscay after being downed by German fighters.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
