"Sweet Sioux" was struck by anti-aircraft fire
at nightfall while returning from mission over
France, killing three aboard.
Control of the bomber was lost after crossing
the channel and it went down near
Wetheringsett, Suffolk, England, but the
seven remaining crew members parachuted
before the crash.

S/Sgt. Willard Johnson
Sgt. Robert D. Erisch
