Officially the 389th left England for the US May 20 1945.
The ground Echelon returned via ship May 30th.
Some 389th personnel may have been left behind for various reasons, this crew aboard B24 42-110018 was lost while returning to USA 17-Jun-45. Interestingly Silbo and other members from the 704th Squadron, 446th Bomb Group were passengers also lost returning to the states.
