He resided in Contra Costa County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on December 19, 1941 in Fresno, California. He was noted as being employed as a Surveyor and also as Single, without dependents.

Bruce was declared "Missing In Action" when his B-17 was hit by anti-aircraft & attacked by enemy aircraft and crashed in France during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
