Ogden Examiner, The (Ogden, Utah) - June 27, 1918, Utah, Page 4. Another Zion Boy is Reported Dead. Elmo Ridges of Salt Lake Falls in France While in Active Service. Salt Lake, June 26. - Word has been received in Salt Lake of the death of Private Elmo Ridges of that city who fell May 30, when Captain Kermit Roosevelt and his company hurled back waves of German shook troops in the Champagne region. Ridges was a member of a machine gun detachment, a suicide squad. News of Ridges' death was received yesterday by his wife, Mrs Agnes Ridges, 800 West Second North street in a telegram from Adjutant General Henry P. McCain.

Ridges was thirty years old. He was born May 12, 1888. He enlisted last September and was sent to Camp Lewis after a short period of training at Camp Lewis, Ridges was sent to France and assigned to the company of infantry commanded by Captain Kermit Roosevelt.

Private Ridges was the grandson of Joseph Ridges, the builder of the Tabernacle organ, and Ebenezer Beesley director of the Tabernacle choir for fifteen years. He was a nephew of Lorenzo Beesley, an employee of the Telegram-Herald Republican. Private Ridges was married to Miss Agnes Gurdy four years ago. Besides his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest B. Ridges, of 441 West Third North street, three sisters, Mrs. Daniel Morrison, Miss Erma Ridges and Miss Arline Ridges and one brother, Alvln Ridges, survive.
