William Hubbard married Anna Waite Hinds on the Fourth of July 1850, and together they had three sons, all born in Kentucky, where William Hubbard had gone to teach a ladies school: William Henry Hubbard, Charles Francis Wayland Hubbard , and Edward Waite Hubbard.

From the Boston Daily Advertiser, 12 January 1877:

William H. Hubbard, principal of the [South] Berkshire Institute, New Marlborough, Mass., died Wednesday morning of congestion of the lungs. He leaves a wife and three sons. One of the sons [Charles F.W.] is principle of the Woodstock Academy, Woodstock, Conn., another of the sons [Rev. William Henry] is pastor of the Congregational church, Merrimac. Mass. (Mortuary Notice)

Vital Records of Massachusetts indicates that although he died in New Marlborough, his place of residence was Hatfield.

After William Hubbard's death in 1877, his widow joined her son William in Merrimac, MA, Holyoke, and finally in Auburn, NY, where she lived until her death in 1909.
