His next youngest sibling, who is still living as of 2012, confirms this, as she was born in 1919; furthermore, the obituary for George published Jan. 11, 1995 in The Coeur d'Alene Press states that he was born in 1917.

George D. Gillaspy, 77, Post Falls, died Monday, January 9, 1995, at home. He was born June 30, 1917, in Manchester, Oklahoma, to Robert and Eithel (White) Gillaspy. He grew up and attended schools in Manchester then moved to Coeur d'Alene at the age of 19. He married Mildred Harrison on March 31, 1941 in Coeur d'Alene and they made their home here as he began working as a machinist for Kaiser Aluminum. They moved to Post Falls in 1977 and he retired from Kaiser in 1979. After his retirement he repaired small engines and enjoyed his garden and hunting and fishing. He was a member of
the NRA.
