Dr. Vincent N. Fornango passed away at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center, Monday, August 11, 2008, he was 94 years old.
Vince was born March 3, 1914 and lived his entire life in Joliet. He attended Joliet schools, Graduate of J.T.H.S. class of 1931 (class records chairman) and Joliet Junior College class of 1933. In 1937 he graduated from Loyola Dental Academy and began hi dental practice in Joliet. He continued his practice for 54 years until his retirement in 1990.
Vince was a poliomyelitis victim from age two until age 70 when Post Polio Syndrome took its toll on him until his passing.
Despite his physical affliction he was active and enjoyed many sports including basketball, baseball, swimming, archery and his favorite golf. He was always up for a good game of cards.
Vince was a member of the Will County Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, Joliet Dental Study Club, American Physiologic Dentistry, Post Polio International, Church of St. Anthony and church choir, Kiwanis Club of Joliet, S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. independent quartet "The Harmo-Knights", Joliet Grade and J.T.H.S. Band Parents
Association, American Field Service, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity and the Blue Key Honorary Fraternity.
Vincent is survived by his wife of 67 years Mary Louise "Mickey" Fornango (nee Pearce); three sons James (Jean) Fornango of St. Louis, MO., Doug Fornango of Chicago and Mark Fornango of San Diego, CA. Three grandchildren and one great-grandson. A brother Bernanrd (Bette) Fornango of Joliet. Also survived by four nephews.
