|Birth: ||Oct. 11, 1826|
|Death: ||Dec. 28, 1920|
Rode the mail route for his father. Fought in Civil War (108th Illinois Infantry) earning rank of Colonel. Engaged in clothing business, ice business, steamboats between Peoria & New Orleans. Worked in the revenue service & and selling liquor. Elected Mayor of Peoria 8 times. Married in 1851 - father of 8 children.
One obituary article stated that his grandmother was the sister of George Washington. This was never logical because George Washington's only surviving sister was Elizabeth (Betty) Washington Lewis.
It is noteworthy that the grandmother of both George and Betty was Mildred Warner - but no relationship was found that connects this grandmother to John Baptist Warner.
Equally intriguing is the fact that Fielding Lewis and Betty Washington Lewis built "Kenmore", an estate later purchased by the Gordon family, yet no connection was found to Hester Gordon, John's mother.
