J. W. (Babe) Rosteet, well known citizen of "Old Imperial Calcasieu" parish, died at his home on East Broad Street in this city Saturday morning at 1:30 o'clock, after an illness of about a month. The funeral cortege left the family residence Saturday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The body was buried in Graceland cemetery following those services. Deceased is survived by a widow, nee Miss Grace LeBleu, four sons and two daughters. These latter are: Mrs. Al Ribeck, Harry Rosteet, Chas. Rosteet, Mrs. Kenneth McCain, Albert Rosteet and Paul Rosteet. All of them live in Lake Charles. J. W. Rosteet was born in the same house in which he died, on August 11, 1861. He served the people of Calcasieu Parish as parish treasurer, clerk of the police and as member of the Calcasieu Police Jury from the Third Ward of the parish. After parish division he served as a member of the parish school board.
