Mrs. Funk's maiden name was Emma J. Lampman and she was born November 10, 1849 at Sheboygan, Wis. Her girlhood was spent in Kansas, where her parents moved when she was a small child. In 1869 she was married to Lewis Funk, a native of Scott County, who went to Kansas at the close of the Civil War. They resided in Kansas a few years, then moved to Illinois, residing near Exeter. They moved to a farm near Alexander in 1888, the year that Mr. Funk died. Mrs. Funk was left as a widow, with a family of five children. For many years she attended the Sulphur Springs Baptist church. For a number of years she was an active member of the Women's Relief Corps.
Besides her son, Hillard E. Funk, of Waverly, she is survived by two sons, Yuba E. Funk, Jacksonville; Cadie B. Funk, Ronald, Wash.; and two daughters, Mrs. Ernest Strawn and Mrs. Robert Covington, Jacksonville; also one brother, Oscar Lampman, Gardenia, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. E. P. White, Thayer, Kas., and Mrs. Mary Vortman, of Bluffs. There are also several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock this (Friday) morning at the residence, 726 South Church St., Jacksonville, Rev. George E. Scrimger, officiating. Interment will be in the Gilham cemetery near Winchester.
