Amelia married widower William Flack Vaughn Aug 1, 1918
According to my mother granddaughter of Amelia, Flack Vaughn was an unkind man. She always, always mentioned him with a sneer in her voice. He never earned the endearment of grandpa from my mother or siblings. He was always just Flack. In fact, none of Amelia's children would allow their children to call him grandpa, dislike of him was so great.
He kicked out each of Amelia's children when they reached 16 years of age, to fend for themselves. His own children were not treated so. When Amelia's youngest Luella Cathleen reached 16, Amelia finally put her foot down and didn't allow him to oust her, per my mother.
My grandmother Grace Lane Knapp alone and homeless at 16, lived with boyfriend Floyd and his parents, the William and Minnie Knapp family in Allerton after she was kicked out. She married my grandfather Floyd E Knapp when she was 17.
