John Henry Haley, 80, Sophia, died Friday at 2:45 p.m. in a local hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Born at Hinton, March 31, 1896, he was a son of the late Henry and Mildred Haley.
Haley was a retired miner, a member of the UMWA Local Union 6108, Slab Fork, Sophia Free Will Baptist Church and a World War I veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Linnie Beck Haley, at home; three sons, Robert P. and John W. both of Crab Orchard and Dennis, Port Malabar, Fla.; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Cook, Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home with the Revs. George Smith and Wade Webb officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Fred Walker, Thomas McKinney, G. G. Darnell, Fred Robinson, Coy Barr, Charles Lambert, George Smith., R. R. Perry, Cleve Milam and Al Janney.
