He was born March 23, 1873, being 61 years old, and though having resided in Baton Rouge for the past 20 years, was born and spent the major part of his life in Simsboro. He was the first cashier of the Bank of Simsboro, and his mother was one of the pioneer citizens of Ruston, her family having founded the town of Simsboro.
For a while, Mr. Sims had a mercantile business in the town, but had spent most of his life in the banking business. For the past 20 years, he has operated a bank in Slaughter, La., just north of Baton Rouge.
He is survived by his wife and two children, one son, Milton, and a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Ouzley, of Baton Rouge, and also by two brothers and a sister, J. M. Sims, of this city, R. D. Sims, of Arcadia, and Mrs. M. L. Phillips of Simsboro.
Funeral services will take place at Simsboro Tuesday morning at 10:30, and will be conducted by the Rev. T. W. Strain.
