Albert M. Wallman, 85, of Bowman, ND formerly of Rhame, ND died on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Southwest Healthcare Hospital in Bowman.

Funeral Services for Albert will be on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bowman Lutheran Church. Pastor Charles Swanson and Pastor Galen Strand will officiate with burial to follow in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Rhame, ND. There will be a Family and Friends service on Friday, July 30, 2010 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Southwest Healthcare Long Term Center Chapel in Bowman.

Albert Milton Wallman was born on February 24, 1925 at the Rhame Hospital, which was located above the bank in Rhame, the son of Axel and Mable (Mathison) Wallman.
Alberts mother died of Rheumatic Fever when he was 8 years old. Albert had five younger siblings, who he helped take care of.
Albert graduated from the 8th grade in 1940 at Nebo Country School. He then began helping his grandfather and father milk cows.
At the age of 17 and with his grandpa signing for him, Albert joined the United States Navy on June 22, 1942. He proudly served his country until being honorably discharged on March 7, 1946.
Albert spent time on the U.S.S Breton Carrier and also the Indianapolis Heavy Crusiser where Albert was a gunner. He was stationed in San Fransico Bay and also Honalulu Hawaii. Albert cleaned out the bombed ships after Pearl Harbor. When He first was in the Navy, Albert even spent time KP duty for three months.

Albert returned home to Rhame after his discharge and on August 1, 1952, Albert was united in marriage to Margaret Stricherz at the Rhame Lutheran Church. After their marriage, Albert and Margaret bought the Stricherz farm in 1964 from Fred and Bessie Stricherz.

Albert helped build the 4-U Motel in November of 1959 to March 1960. He served on the Nebo School Board for 30 years, and all the election boards for 50 years. He also served on the Slope Electric and Consolidated Telephone Committees and was a member of the Rhame American Legion for 64 years.

Albert farmed and ranch along side his wife for 55 years. In July of 2008, Albert moved into Bowman to stay near his wife. Margaret passed away on December 10, 2009. Albert has struggled with his health problems for several years that were from World War II.

Albert is survived by his children, Dennis Wallman of Buffalo, SD, Donald and Rhonda Wallman of Bowman, ND, Daryl and Shelby Wallman of Rhame, ND, Doug Wallman of Buffalo, SD, and Michele and Fred Hulm of Faith, SD; grandchildren, Lindsay (Brandon) Morford, Lacy Wallman, Randa Wallman all of Ft. Collins, CO, Jessica (Adam) Grinsteinner of St. Paul, MN, John Wallman of Grand Forks, ND, Casey Wallman of Iraq, Tate Wallman of Rhame, ND, Nicholas (Claudia) Wallman of Apache Junction, AZ, Amy Hulm and Kyle Kennedy of Faith, SD, Andrea Hulm and Billy Clanton of Bowbells, ND, Anita Hulm of Torrington, WY; great grandchildren, Kyle, Keenen, and Ali Morford, Laraya, Isabel and Makayla, Emerson Grinsteinner and Kaydence Kennedy; brothers, Allan (Linda) Wallman of Rhame, ND, Clayton (Della) Wallman of Rhame, ND and Bud (Shirley) Wallman of Oakland, Oregon, brother-in-law; Bob Abney of Anderson, CA, sister-in-law, Marilyn Ludlum of Willison, ND, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret and two sisters, Frances Dillon and Eileen Abney.
