Wat Smith, age 84, passed away in Schertz, TX with his family on Saturday, December 14, 2002. He was born on February 1, 1918 in Garrison, TX to Allen B. and Mae Hall Smith.
Mr. Smith served in the U. S. Navy, worked for Humble Oil [may actually be Phillips Petroleum], and retired Civil Service from Kelly AFB in 1974. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Perfect Union No. 10 in San Antonio, TX.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Scott Burgess. Survivors include: wife of 63 years, Edith Harris Smith; daughters, Judy Burgess and husband Ron of New Braunfels, Barbara Meads and husband Harry of Schertz and Leslie Wells and Husband Jim of New Braunfels; son John Smith and wife Lisa of San Antonio; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 16, 2002 at Schertz Funeral Home from 6:00 p. m. until 9:00 P. M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P. M. until 8:00 P. M. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 11:00 A. M. at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio. Memorials may be given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Grand Central Station, P. O.
