"Fairfield Ledger", date not cited

The body of Mrs. Elizabeth ALEXANDER was brought to this city for interment last week by her children, Mrs. M. S. CRAWFORD and H. J. ALEXANDER..... The body was laid beside those of husband and children.... Mrs. ALEXANDER died at the home of her daughter in Denver, Colo., the 26th ult., after a period of illness extending over several months. Her maiden name was Elizabeth FORE, and she was born in Bedford County, Penna., Sept. 16, 1821 (sic. 17th on headstone inscription). She was married in the same county in 1841 to William Knox ALEXANDER. Four years later the family came to this city and it was its home without interruption until death of the husband Oct. 19, 1901.

Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. ALEXANDER, only two of them now living, both in Denver. The family was closely connected with the history of Fairfield for many years... There are many old friends here who will mourn the death of this good woman, and it is said of her that she never forgot her old home and its people and that her thoughts were with them and of them almost to the hour of her death.
