ROCKFORD - Marion J. Berg, 99, of Rockford died at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010, in Provena Cor Mariae Center. Born June 23, 1911, in Rockford, the daughter of Alfred and Jennie (Gustafson) Oberg. She married Simon E. Berg in 1934; he died Oct. 15, 1993. Marion worked for several years as a cook at the Maid Rite Restaurant on Broadway, and at Growth Enterprises. Former member of Broadway Covenant Church. She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen (Emery) Bartle of Phoenix, Franklin (Helen) Berg of Rockford, Theodore (Joyce) Berg of Caledonia, Gordon (Sue) Berg of Rockford and John (Paula) Berg of Tucson, Ariz.; grandchildren, Laura (Jay) Klotz, Janet (Curt) Buss, Thomas Berg, Karen (John) Weidner, Amy Berg, Christopher (Anna) Berg, Kevin Berg, Ericka Berg, Elizabeth (Casey) Kellog, and Kristi (Troy) Krouse; seven great-grandchildren; and nephew, Fred (Connie) Carlson. Predeceased also by sister, Martha Carlson; brothers, Gustav and Stanley Oberg; and nephew, John Carlson. The family would like to thank the staff of Provena Cor Mariae Center and Hospice Care of America.
Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., with visitation from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.; the Rev. Joyce Cosman will officiate. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park.
