June Hudnut Rader, 85, of P. O. Box 23, Mint Spring, VA, 24463, and of 1120 33rd Ave., Bradenton, FL, 34205, died Friday, August 3, 2001, at Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville, VA, near the family farm, after a brief illness.

She was born May 23, 1916, in Belding, MI, the only daughter of Glenn and Hazel (Shipman) Hudnut.

She accompanied her husband to duty stations in Battle Creek, MI, and Rapid City, SD, during the Korean War. She assisted her husband in his veterinary practice in Michigan for over 20 years. For many years she was an executive secretary in Washington, D. C.

A gentle woman, she was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sarasota, Fl, for nearly 25 years. She was also very active in the United Methodist Women's Esther Circle and the Church's Braren Library. She was also a lifetime member of Eastern Star.

Her hobbies were reading, fishing, leather working, needlework, gardening, and canning. She and her husband authored The Descendants of Adam and Anna Maria Roder, Johann Adam and Katharine (Tauber) Roder. She also did extensive research on the Shipman, Hudnut, Van Belcom, and Harkness families.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William A. Rader, III.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. William A. Rader, who she married July 18, 1941, three sons, one daughter, and seven grandchildren.

Following cremation, a memorial service attended by the entire family was conducted at the family farm near Mint Spring, VA. Interment will be in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
