Survivors included 1 daughter of Jerseyville; 1 grandchild; 3 sisters, Elizabeth, Pauline and Zola; 2 brothers, Murl and Harold. Gerald's twin brother, Harold, passed away in 1982.
A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. on the afternoon of 11 Jun 1979 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin.
Bertha died in 1991.

3 Casualties in One Hardin Family
HARDIN. Three casualties have been reported in the Funk family of the Hardin vicinity. Two sons of George Funk and the late Mrs. George Funk, have been wounded in action, and one is missing.
Pfc. George H. Funk was in Belgium at time of the last big German offensive and was reported missing in action Dec. 20.
Pfc. John C. Funk was wounded at Bastogne. He was with the 101st Airborne Division which helped make the historic stand there. He was shot through the arm and sustained other injuries. Two months ago he was sent back to the United States and is now at O'Reilly General Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Pfc. Murel Funk was wounded in France, and was sent to an army base hospital. He recovered and has rejoined his unit.
Another brother, Sgt. Gerald Funk, is in the Philippines. He has been on duty for two years in the Pacific.
A fifth brother, Pfc. Harold Funk, was given an honorable discharge and is now at home. He saw active service in New Guinea.
