Maty Kentch, 78, of Creston, Iowa, formerly of Bolivar, died Monday, July 19, 2010, at the Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

She was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Willow Springs, the daughter of Mary Jane Rader Godsy and John Harrison Godsy. She graduated from Willow Springs High School and then earned her teaching certificate from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. On Sept. 19, 1953, she married Hugh Clinton Kentch in Willow Springs. She taught in rural schools in Howell County and was also a homemaker. She later worked in the office at Western Auto and the Harding Glass Industry, both in Kansas City. She had been a member of the Raytown Christian Church in Raytown and the Bolivar Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dale Kentch; and her brother, Clark Godsy.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Kentch of Creston, Iowa; one son, Neal Kentch and wife Mary of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Walker and husband Dr. Dan Walker of Creston, Iowa; three granddaughters, Ann Barnett and husband Daniel of Columbia, Iowa, Ellen Walker of Ankeny, Iowa, and Allison Walker of Creston, Iowa; and two brothers, Rector Godsy and wife Darlene of Willow Springs and Delbert Godsy of Mountain View.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Road in Kansas City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Kansas City. Pastor Mark Turnbough will officiate.

Visitation will be open 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, with family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Family will receive friends from noon until service time Thursday at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City.
