Actress. Born Catherine Dailey in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was a popular Ziegfeld comedienne which led her to heading the 1936 Follies on Broadway. In the 1940s, she was singing with bands and soon became a popular nightclub and radio comedienne entertainer. She made her screen debut in "The Fleets In" (1942), followed by films to include "Crazy House" (1943), "Ladies Man" (1947), "Red Garter" (1954), "The Spirit Is Willing" (1967) and "Norwood" (1970), before retiring from films. She died in an accident when she stumbled over a glass coffee table while alone in her home and bled to death when a shard of glass cut her neck. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
