Arthur was a son of Julius and Ettie Coffin Kennedy. He enlisted in the US Navy in July 14,1908 as a Seaman.And served on Battle Ships,Submarines and Destroyers as a Chief Gunners Mate. He served in both WW 1 and WW 2 after he retired from the Navy he was called back to duty during WW 2 and was sent to the Great Lakes Training Station as a Chief Instructor in the Torpedo Classes during WW 2. He was later sent to Alameda California as an Instructor there.
Arthur Dedicated his life to the US navy and Traveled the World during his service. He worked his was up from a Seaman in 1908 and was trained in Several positions eventually he was able to Take care of all aspects of all Vessels and was highly respected and relied on to the fullest. He served as a Seaman,Heavy Gunner,Mariner,Coxswain,Torpedo Man,1st Cl,Petty Officer,Bosens Mate,Boatswains Mate 2nd Class,CTM AA Chief Torpedomans Mate,CTM PA. Chief Torpedomans Mate, Serving on the Following Ships.

He was in some of the eariest Submarines and was able to handle any situation. Never repremanded at any time during his service and left a virtually untarnished Naval Record..
