Obituary from the "Daily Herald" of Calgary, Alberta. Canada dated 10 Jun 1925:
Leadale Man Killed
By A Falling Tree;
Leaves Large Family
(Special to The Calgary Herald)
Leadale [sic], June 10. - Chas. T. Pettis, aged 68, a resident of this district for the last 13 years, was killed on May 30 when a tree fell on him while getting out some logs with Lewis Robinson and Guy Smith. A tree became dislodged from another and narrowly missed Mr. Robinson. Mr. Pettis was taken to the home of Mr. Robinson, but died before a doctor arrived.
Funeral services were held at Leadale on Tuesoay and the large attendance bespoke the respect in which the deceased was held in the community. He is survived by a large family, most of whom are living in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and in Michigan. One son resides in Leadale.
