SABULA PEOPLE IN CHRISTMAS WEDDINGS...Miss Viola Kempter Becomes Wife of S.D. Cotter. Claude Briggs Weds Miss Mildred Bolton, of Savanna...

Two holiday week weddings of much interest to Sabula people were those of Stewart Day Cotter, a young man who is now a member of the faculty at Elmhurst, Illinois High School, to Miss Viola Kempter, of this city and Claude Briggs, also of Sabula but employed in the Williams dry goods store, in Savanna, to Miss Mildred Bolton, of the latter city.

The Bolton-Briggs wedding took place on Christmas day at the "little brown church in the vale", near Nashua, Iowa, and was quite a surprise to the many friends of the young couple, although it was felt by them that the happy event would take place within the near future. The bride is one of Savanna's most winsome and popular young ladies and has been employed at clerical work in a railroad office there. She has been a frequent visitor in Sabula and has made a host of friends here. Claude is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Briggs, of this city, and after graduation from the local high school in 1922 took a course in window decorating and card writing and now holds a responsible position with the I.S. Williams dry goods company in Savanna. He is a clean-cut young fellow with the happy faculty of making friends where ever he goes and no doubt has a bright future in his chosen work.
