Virginia L. 'Sis' Laws, 81, Altoona died Weds., July 7, 2010. She was born in Altoona, to Cloyd & Hilda (Kaltsmith) Murray. She married Robert E. Laws on Feb. 14, 1959, and he predeceased her. Robert was Altoona's only Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Surviving are 2 children: Edward A. (Tammy) and Sharon L. (Jeffrey) Geist, both Altoona; 6 grandchildren: Jordan, Paige and Brianna Geist, Madeline and Eddie Laws and Taylor Didyk; a stepgrandson, Cameron Brode; 3 brothers: Robert (Shirley) Murray and Galen (Sally), both Altoona, and Lowell (Dorothea), Riggles Gap; sister, Marilyn Hainley, Duncansville. Predeceased by son, Robert, Jr.; brothers: Gary, Allen and Paul; and sisters: Joyce Westover and Darlene Schoch. Virginia retired from the Altoona Area School District as a bus driver. She served as a volunteer for 35 years at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center, totaling 10,446 hours. Member, Greenwood United Methodist Church. Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home, Altoona. Interment, Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
