Armstrong (known to friends and neighbors as Mrs. C. L. Akes) was born near Garden Grove Iowa, Dec. 12, 1895. She grew to womanhood at Leon, Iowa and was married to C.L. Akes March 10, 1912. To this union were born two sons. She
died May 13, 1924 at the age of 28 years, 5 months and 1 day. She was buried in the Timber Lake Cemetary. In her girhood, Mrs. Akes united with the Christian Church in her community. Within a year of her death she brought her
membership to the Baptist church of Glencross, in which she has taken a very interested and worthy part. She gave abundant testimony of being ready to go, and with but one regret in that she was not allowed to live to bring up her
children in the faith. There remained to mourn her loss; her husband, C.L. Akes; her sons Harold age 9 and Charles, age 5 and Sarah, a foster daughter; four sisters, two of whom were able to attend the funeral; and her father and
mother who were also in attendance. One sister and one brother had proceeded her in death. Besides these there are many other relatives and a host of friends and neighbors who are keenly touched by this bereavement.
