Mrs. Eliza J. Lewis

Mrs. Eliza Jane Lewis, aged 60 years, of Robinson, died on Thursday night at the home of Adam Seaman in Bolivar, after a five-day illness of lobular pneumonia. Mrs. Lewis was the widow of John W. Lewis, who died about 10 years ago. She had served for the past 25 years as janitor of the Bolivar public schools. Her kindness and friendliness made her many friends who are saddened by her sudden death. She was always active and willing to do her part in work that was of a benefit to the community. She was the daughter of the late B.F. Reynolds and spent most of her life in Robinson. She was a member of the Bolivar Methodist church, The Patriot Daughters of America, also of a lodge in Apollo, and one in Johnstown. She is survived by her aged mother, Mrs. Samuel Fisher, of Bolivar; three children, William F. Lewis, of Charleroi; Mrs. Albert Singer, of Robinson, and Mrs. William Coley, of Salix; three brothers, William Reynolds, of South Fork; Harry Reynolds, of Wilkinsburg, and Edward Reynolds, of Bolivar. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren are living. Funeral services were held in the Bolivar Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, where she lay in state for an hour before the service in order that the school children might view the remains. Internment was made in Mt. Tabor cemetery in West Wheatfield township, where the various lodges took part. The funeral was a very large one and the floral offerings beautiful.
