John Wesley Bryan, 87, 2142 North Manor Dr., Erie, died Thursday, August 15, 1996, at Saint Francis Nursing Center North in Cranberry, Pennsylvania.
He was born in Berlin, Pennsylvania, December 4, 1908, son of the late Rev. Samuel and Harriett Bryan.
Mr. Bryan attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he was a trumpeter in the marching band and sang in the Glee Club. He had worked as a scheduler for Lord Corp. until his retirement in 1973, and was the oldest living member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, where he was very active and sang in the choir for more than 40 years and was a former member of the church's administrative board.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Foster Bryan; and two sisters, Stella Curtis and Grace Pollock.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Meyer Feather Bryan; a daughter, Myrna Lee Bryan of West Palm Beach, Florida; a son, John Wesley Bryan Jr. of West Palm Beach; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Wheatley of Wexford, Pennsylvania; a brother, William Bryan of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania; a sister, Ruth Murphy of West Palm Beach; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Kingsley United Methodist Church, 913 Cranberry St., Erie, Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 3 p.m. The Rev. Todd Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
