Lieutenant Klopfenstein was a Co Pilot of a B-24J Liberator bomber. He was lost over France on December 11, 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart. His remains were identified and returned for burial on September 10, 2001. His burial is also recorded at Arlington National Cemetery.
