KANNAPOLIS - John Daniel Barringer Sr., 92, passed away June 29, 2010, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Merck officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
Mr. Barringer was born July 13, 1917 in Cabarrus County, son of the late John Lawson Deberry Barringer and Esther Lipe Barringer.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Widenhouse Barringer.
John retired from Baker Driveway in Winston Salem. He was a World War II Marine veteran and was a member of the American Legion Post 51. He was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his son, John D. Barringer Jr. and wife, Lyn of Castle Rock, Colo.; daughter, Jo Ann Barringer Fowler and husband, Don, of Concord; four grandchildren, Jenni Hardison and husband, John, Lauri Fowler, Randy Fowler and wife, Bridget, Adam Barringer and wife, Cassandra; five great-grandchildren, Cole Hardison, Paige Hardison, Savanah Fowler, Sidney Fowler and Daniel Barringer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Lutheran Church 5469 Highway 200 Concord, NC 28025 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
