Mr. Jimmy W. Alman, age 63, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2010.

Born in Union, SC, on November 11, 1946, Mr. Alman was the son of the late James B. Alman and Margaret Evans Alman. He was a graduate of Union High School and later attended Baptist College (now Charleston Southern University) in Charleston, SC.

Mr. Alman proudly served his country in the US Navy for 25 years. After his retirement from the military, he accepted a position with Batta Environmental Associates, where he worked as an environmental inspector.

A devout Christian, he was an active member of Pleasantville Baptist Church, serving as assistant treasurer and usher, as well as in many other church ministries.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, on Friday, July 2, at Pleasantville Baptist Church, 162 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE, where visitation will begin at 1 pm. A second funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, July 5, at the Holcombe Funeral Home, Inc., 310 W. South St., Union, SC, where visitation will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Union Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pleasantville Baptist Church Building Fund, 162 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE 19720.
