Leland W. Heap, 81, of Dewey passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday (June 27, 2010) at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
He was born on Sept. 3, 1928 in Dewey to Elza and Marie Ark Heap. He married Betty McCormick on Aug. 31, 1952 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1995. He married June Williams. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, John H. Heap of Rantoul and Michael (Lee) Heap of Indianapolis; two daughters, Melinda (Blake) Lasher of Fletcher, N.C. and Shelly (Patrick) Obert of Hampton, Va.; a sister, Delilah (Red) Carlos of Eagle River, Alaska; seven grandchildren; three stepchildren; six step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and an infant granddaughter.
