Ann Cassin, the daughter of James and Mary Cassin, was born in Kilkinery, Ireland, in 1848, and in early life came to America, settling in Abington township, Illinois.

January 28, 1875, she was united in marriage to Pete Doud, in Keithsburg, and to them were born a son, Patrick Doud, and a daughter, Mary A., the wife of A. C. Griffith.
