Wiley Henry Snow was born the second son of Unknown Snow and Elizabeth McBay Snow. He first shows up at the age of 8 in Lincoln County, TN living in the household of his grandparents Houston and Margaret Peggy Phann McBay along with his mother, and his 3 siblings, Philip, Sarah, and Margaret Elizabeth Snow.
In 1860 he is still living in the household of his grandmother, now widowed, his mother and two of his siblings, Philip and Margaret Elizabeth. Sarah's whereabouts is unknown.
On December 30, 1869 he married Martha Campbell in Lincoln County, TN, a copy of their marriage license can be found on ancestry.com or in the Lincoln County, TN courthouse clerks office. However, on his US CSA Pensions paperwork his marriage date to Martha is December 29, 1866. According to his death certificate and date on his tombstone their first child William Henry Snow was born May 5, 1969. In all Wiley and Martha had 13 children, some not living to adulthood. William Henry, James Young, John Walter, Lucy Lee, Mary (Mollie), Lillie B, Coil Luther, May, Whirtie, Royal (Roy), Linnie Earl, Berdie Beatrice, and Loyce(f).
In 1870 Wiley is 24 years old and found hoh with a wife Martha and his 19 month old son William. Living next door to Wiley is his sister Margaret Elizabeth and her husband Robert Bennett. His mother has not been located in an 1870 census but is still living as evidence of this is found later. A stone marked with her death date of 1899.
In 1880 Wiley and family are in Lincoln County, Tennessee and have 6 children. William, James, John, Lucy, Mary and Lilla B. Sometime after the 1880 Lincoln County, TN census the Wiley Snow family left TN and moved to TX.
In 1900 they are found in the Iowa Park Village in Wicthia Co. Texas. There are 5 children May, Royal, Lennie, Birdie and Luice, living with them some are gone from home, some died as a child according to the tombstones that have been located.
Wiley died on October 1, 1906, this is the date on his tombstone but when his wife Martha filed for a widow's pension the date of death is October 1, 1907.
Wiley, his wife Martha, James Young, John Walter, Lillie, and Loyce all are buried in Clara Cemetery in Wicthia Tx, Wiley's mother Elizabeth McBay Snow has a stone there as well simply carved GRANDMA SNOW but it has the same carvings as the other SNOW stones...postitive this is his mother.
