WALDORF, Md. -- Richard Weddington Boyd, 76, died June 19 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington.
He was born in Dublin, Ga., and was an Army veteran of World War II in the Pacific Theater, at Guadalcanal and Iwo Jima. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Waldorf.
He was a former member of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, F&AM. He retired from the Washington Post as a printer.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Charline T. Boyd of Waldorf; two daughters, Cheryl B. Turner of Savannah and Bonnie J. Stone of Great Falls, Mont.; three sons, Gary Boyd of Charleston, David Boyd of Bloomingdale and Rob Cassity of Mechanicsville, Md.; a brother, Robert Boyd of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Mary Turner of Savannah and Margaret Wood of Tybee Island; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: 2-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel.
FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Friday at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
