Rowena, 94, of Mt. Pleasant went to heaven to join her husband on Saturday, at Maplewood Assisted Living.

A celebration of Rowena's life will be held at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, June 23rd with Mary Ann Justin-Evan officiating. Contributions may be made to Rosebush Presbyterian Church, Woodland Hospice, or Commission on Aging.

Rowena was born the daughter of William and Clara (Swindlehurst) Morrison. She lived her entire life in Isabella County. Rowena married Ralph Howard Diehl on March 18, 1938. They had been married for 34 years when he died on December 1, 1972. They had two daughters, Deanna (Robert) Harris of Fremont, MI and Geraldine Travis of Mt. Pleasant, MI.

During her lifetime, Rowena helped on the farm with her husband and after his death went to work at Central Michigan University in the Bake Shop and during the summers in the dorms for ten years. Rowena was a member of the Rosebush Presbyterian Church, where she was Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, and helped with the fish suppers making the coleslaw. Rowena was a 4-H leader for many years, teaching sewing to many children in Isabella Township, including her granddaughter. She volunteered for many years with the Commission on Aging and was Volunteer of the Year during one of those years. Rowena enjoyed playing cards and dancing. After retiring Rowena belonged to the Piece to Piece Quilt Club in Rosebush and made each of her daughters a quilt and also her four grandchildren. Rowena's most important things in life were her daughters and all her grand children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. She always had several kinds of cookies in the freezer for friends and family when they came to visit.

Rowena is survived by her two daughters and their spouses; grandchildren, Michelle (John) Harloff of Fruitport, MI, John (Ramona) Travis of Mt. Pleasant, Debra (Alan) McCreery of Mt. Pleasant, and Geoffrey Harris of Muskegon; nine great-grandchildren, Danielle, Elizabeth, and Andrew Harloff of Fruitport, MI, Paxton, Caitlin and Devyn Harris of Muskegon, MI, Brady Travis, Alicia Travis (Nate Dent), Canyon and Carly McCreery, all of Mt. Pleasant; one great-great-granddaughter, Aubrey Dent of Mt. Pleasant; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Recker of Shepherd and Bernice Morrison of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews.
