Elizabeth Jane O'Neale moved to Gentry county (sic) with her parents in her girlhood days; here she was married to her now bereaved husband, Mr. Armstrong Floyd May 27th, 1866. To this union three daughters were born, one having died when four years old. The other daughters are: Mrs. G.T. Marrs and Mrs. J.C. Swearingen. Mrs. Floyd was the sister of eight brothers, two having preceded her to the realms of glory. The living brothers are: Ike, William, Jake, Charles, Clem and Lewis. The sisters are: Mrs. L.A. Castor, Mrs. Sallie Stanley and Mrs. Martha Gerdack. Mrs. Floyd was the grandmother of ten grandchildren, five boys and five girls, all of whom are living. All the children and grandchildren were at her bedside during her last illness.
During her girlhood days Sister Floyd became a Christian and ever lived a faithful follower of Christ. She "remembered her Creator in the days of her youth" and in her old age she remained ever true to Him. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind neighbor. "None knew her but to love her, none named her but to praise her," for her devotion to her sick husband. Such faithfulness will find its reward in that home of many mansions to which her Master has long since welcomed her. The funeral was conducted from the home by Rev. A.W. Luce, minister of the Christian church (sic), assisted by Rev. Wilkins, pastor of the Baptist church (sic). Amid a concourse of many sympathizing friends her remains were tenderly laid to rest in the beautiful High Ridge cemetery (sic) to await the resurrection morn when the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Albert W. Luce, Minister.
