Obit

JOHN GRIMES – of Dysart, a veteran of the First World War, died yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock in the Veterans' hospital at Aspinwall. He was a son of Simon P. and Cecelia (Brant) Grimes and was born at Chest Springs, June 16, 1891. His wife Orvetta Grimes, preceded him in death. Surviving are these children: Mrs. Regina Gibbons of Dysart, Coletta Vernice, Telford; Winifred, Betty and Marie, all at home; and three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Troxell of Blandburg; Mrs. Annie McMullen of Ligonier; Mrs. Sarah Jacobs of Ebensburg and two half brothers Frank of Coalport and Marcellus of Dean and one half sister Mrs. Virginia Swisher of Johnstown and two grandchildren. Mrs. Grimes operated a coalmine at Dysart prior to his illness. (Notation on obit 5/30)
