Civil War Union Army Soldier. He served during the Civil War as a Private in Company C, 50th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered in on September 9, 1861, and was honorably mustered out on September 29, 1864.

James M. Saylor was born oct 1836 in Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill County, Pa. he died between 1910 and 1915. He is the son of John and Catharine Ellen Schiffer Saylor. He married Cornelia Caroline Dietrich, daughter of John Dietrich and Lydia Laudenbach Dietrich of Minersville, Schuylkill, Pa. Cornelia is buried with James M. James M. and Cornelia 's son John Harry Saylor was born July 1865 in Schuylkill Haven, Schuylkill, Pa. He married Salome M. Brumm born born Sept 1867, Minersville, Schuylkill, Pa. she is the daughter of George Washington Brumm and Hannah Kantner Brumm. Salome died 31 Mar 1904, and is buried with her husband John Harry on the same plot with James M. Saylor.
