Gloria Geraldine "Jerry" Bosarge
Gloria Geraldine "Jerry" Bosarge, age 80, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010. She was born October 25, 1929 in Carriere, MS, the oldest daughter of the late Buford Carl and Vivian Ionne Spiers. A resident of Pascagoula for the past 70 years, Jerry was the wonderful mother of seven children and a devoted wife to the late Morris Roy Bosarge, Jr. A daycare provider for many years, Jerry (aka Granny Bosarge) lovingly touched the lives and families of numerous children in Pascagoula. She was an outstanding mother, a passionate cook, a wonderful role model, and a warm and caring person who truly loved people. Jerry relished a cold Coca Cola and her fond memories of dancing with her late husband, Roy, to the swing hits of the Big Band Era. She was preceded in death by her parents, Buford Carl and Vivian lonne Spiers; her loving husband, Morris Roy Bosarge, Jr.; her brothers William Spiers and John Harvey Spiers; and her sister, Patsy Spiers. She is survived by her seven children: Toni Rebecca Bosarge Opelski (Bay City, MI), Gloria Kay Bosarge Helton (Carl; Petal, MS), Theresa D'Vonne Bosarge Dyson (Irvington, AL), Morris Roy Bosarge, III (Ann, Grand Bay, AL), Julie Lanell Bosarge Griffin (David, Vancleave, MS), Brett Weatherford Bosarge, and Kenneth Bryan Bosarge both of Pascagoula. She is survived by 22 grand children and 16 great grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters include: Buddy Spiers, Sara Spiers Weaver, and Sandy Spiers Cochran. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00pm on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, June 17, 2010 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Machpelah Cemetery, Pascagoula, Mississippi.
